Solution

Janette's Solution

To give the impression of more space, this square garden has been designed on the cross axis.

Adding a circle of light paving will help brighten up the shade.

White flowering and light green foliage plants are to be used, to provide some contrast to the dark depressing planting that already exists.

Four mirrors are to be positioned to trick the eye into believing there is a window into another garden. This will create an illusion of space and help reflect light back into the garden.

The final touch is the addition of a new seat, positioned so Sara and Simon can watch the sun go down, surrounded by scented plants to make relaxing there even more enjoyable.
