A woodland garden can be interesting in that it provides a micro climate of its own bringing a versatile range of habitats to both plants and animals through its shade and shelter.

Example: The Woodland Garden

This was an inherited garden attached to a Victorian mansion and typical of the period, in that the gardeners had been obsessed with the beauty and botanical interest of plants and that they had acquired more and more exotic trees and shrubs as soon as they arrived from abroad. Our brief was to create more colour and interest within the garden and thus a great many bulbs were added to the woodland floor, including tulips, daffodils and bluebells, whilst pathways were allowed to meander through the shrubs as opposed to following the straight walled boundaries. Wild flower sections were added to the lawn again to create more pathways and some mystery.
