We find It vitally important  to establish a working relationship, with good communication between client and designer right from the outset; the garden owner respecting the knowledge and reputation of the designer and similarly the designer respecting and interpreting the clients wishes.

The popularity of our designer and the quality of our service is maintained by following a pre-determined plan of action. In this way we can be sure that whatever the design is and whoever the client may be, the result will always be the same - The beautiful garden they've always wanted.

Preliminary visit:

At this initial meeting we provide prospective clients with an overview of our services and the opportunity to view our extensive portfolio of completed designs. We visit you, have a look at your existing garden and discuss your requirements.

Initial Design Visit

To assess your requirements precisely our guiding principle is to listen carefully to your ideas and needs. With this in mind, we have an extensive questionnaire that takes between 2 and 4 hours to complete, depending on the size and complexity of the garden.

Initial Site Survey

A detailed survey of your garden is carried out to enable us to draw up an equally detailed scale plan of the existing site. This will include such things as its size and shape, soil make-up and topographical analysis. In some instances historical research and suitability/qualification for funding grants are examined.

Outline Design Plans and Proposals:

The most creative part of the work. This is the plan detailing the design concept. It will present as clearly as possible in two dimensions all the information needed to make the garden, but it is a rough layout, not to scale, a draft and subject to discussion and review with yourselves.

The Masterplan:

Good planning at the outset minimises costly and time-wasting mistakes. A Masterplan for the whole site is the starting point. This may be implemented immediately or over several years if the garden is large. Each new addition to the garden, planting or hard landscaping, will then compliment and extend what has been done before. Drawn to scale this enables you to use the plan for a self build project or to obtain competitive prices from several contractors, for part or all of the work.

Planting plan:

Drawn to scale and specifically itemising each plant to suit a particular area. The plan shows plant positions and quantities. A complete plant list is also provided including quantities and type of species. This enables you to eliminate the guess work and shop for your plants knowing exactly what to look for.

Plant supply and planting service:

It is important to ensure that you purchase the right plants, of the highest quality and that they are positioned and planted correctly.

Concept Garden Design can always supply the plants required by our own clients, to suit any order and at near-wholesale prices. Unlike many of our competitors, we do not put a large percentage mark-up on the price of the plants that we sell because we operate our plant sales purely as a service to our customers, so that they can get more quality plants for their money. We believe that offering this service to our clients can only serve to improve the quality of the finished garden and that the benefit derived by Concept Garden Design in this way will far outweigh that gained by selling plants at retail prices.

All plants are supplied trimmed (where required) and given the right amount of feed to ensure that they have the best possible start.

Sorry, but Concept Garden Design cannot accept plant orders from other designers, agencies or individuals.

It is for this same reason that we offer our clients the option of having their garden design planted up by our own planting team. Because of their experience and close association with our designer. Our planting team can ensure that the quality, style and spirit of your garden design is maintained throughout the planting process.

Once the plants are starting to appear it is necessary to start thinking about:

Plant Care

With Concept Garden Design you don't have to spend a small fortune on gardening books to look after your new garden, we provide you with a complete instructional guide, custom made specifically to your garden. The report is presented in booklet form and covers what to do, where and when. From planting to pruning, weeding to feeding, this guide covers everything you need to know. This is provided to help you look after and enjoy your new garden.

Axonometric Drawing:
(optional)

To give our clients a clearer impression of how the garden will look once established, we offer the option of commissioning an Axonometric drawing of the finished garden. Due to its differing perspective, an axonometric drawing helps to give body, depth and height to the chosen design.

Detailed Artist's Impression:
(optional)

Concept Garden Design also offer their clients the opportunity of commissioning an Artist's impression in water-colour of what the garden will look like once it has matured. Those clients who have chosen this option in the past, have been amazed at the accuracy of the artists view and many regard them as works of art in their own right, having them framed for display at home.

Constructional drawings:
(optional)

These are especially tailored to your own needs and will enable you to complete the whole or part/s of your garden on a self build basis. Numerous garden elements such as  Walls, patio's and landscape features may all be detailed.

Organisation of Tender:
(optional)

The organisation of the tender for construction and the monitoring of that construction once started is a key element in achieving your goal. If you have the time and the required skill, then there is no reason not to do this yourself. If you are at all unsure of being able to do this yourself, we strongly recommend that you opt for our designer to do it for you. This will help ensure that all the works go according to plan.

Follow up visits: (optional)

As the garden develops, it is often useful to consult the designer again from time to time for further suggestions, to extend or modify the planting or to give advice on pruning. Gardens are always changing and are never finished. This service offers increased support, as clients receive advice and direct supervision, bi-annually to help encourage and assist their efforts in the garden. Clients often favour Spring and Autumn visits for this; to wake the garden up and give it a good start to the year and to put the garden to bed for the winter with all the necessary pruning being carried out on both occasions. It aims to be instructive as well as supervisory, so that clients can learn the necessary skills, under guidance, for them to gain the confidence to work unsupervised.
