Having
walked beneath Rosa mulliganii the banana
scented rose on the pergola you re-enter the
sunlight again to be greeted with the dark pink
flowers of the sterile hawthorn, Crataegus
laevigata ‘Paul’s Scarlet’. Beneath its
branches can be seen the lime green bracts of
Euphorbia characias wulfenii and the colonizing
small pink knotweed, Persicaria bistorta
‘Superba’.
