A trailing evergreen shrub that grows
happily in sun or shade and on any soil, particularly
thriving on chalk and even beside the sea. Such a
versatile plant as it can assume many forms; as a ground
cover dome shaped shrub; edging for beds and containers
such as window boxes; or grown and trimmed as a hedge but
also if given support it will grow up to 20 feet high with
an indefinite spread. It is similar to English Ivy in that
it only starts to flower and fruit once it reaches a
certain height and maturity when it changes character and
becomes upright and bushy. Gold and green variegation that
tinges red when the temperatures start to fall in late
autumn. Originated in the USA in the 1960’s, a
descendent of Euonymus radicans which was discovered by
Robert Fortune in Japan during the 19th century.
